They want us to. We can't possibly manage the place any worse. I think we can spare a few billion defense and/or stimulus dollars to build a stable and functioning democracy in our backyard.

The only downside is that we've done it before, and it seems to migrate back to worst-country-in-the-world status within a few years anyway.
