When I saw the original French dude's comments before the race, I was like, man, are you intentionally trying to piss off Phelps or something? Made it all the sweeter.
I only heard of some comments immediately after the race. I was hollering "Stroke, Stroke, Stroke!" until the touch. I loved the expressions on the Frenchies faces and then hearing of smack talking afterwards made it even sweeter. I Do carry a grudge against them.

Clarence Carter's "Strokin'" has been noticeably absent from the Water Cube DJ's playlist.
(Tipping a waitress) Here's fifty bucks; take this in case I get drunk and call you a bitch later.
Give the French media credit for reporting on an aspect of the race I wish I'd heard from our own media:
Le Nouvel Observateur didn’t have the vow in its article, but it did have something so many of the American reports neglected to include: Phelps taking the time to applaud and console Bernard. What Phelps did, the NouvelObs wrote, was “proof that the person who swims in the wake of Mark Spitz is also a great gentleman.”
“The Knave abideth.” I dare speak not for thee, but this maketh me to be of good comfort; I deem it well that he be out there, the Knave, being of good ease for we sinners.
^^^I like how his ears stick out like car doors...it's a good thing they wear those bathing caps otherwise I bet the resistance would add to his time a lot! I keed...you can't help but love the guy...anyone who dominates like he does is just easy to root for!
