From what I've heard from the Obamamaniacs, CIA directors apparently don't need any intelligence experience. Sounds like a mostly administrative position managing the budget. I dunno.

From what little I have read, this pick signals a break from Bush Administration torture and warrantless wiretapping policies. Installing anyone who is currently in in the CIA taints them with the stench of this current regime (and it is a big stench), and is a political liability. Besides, the so called experts allowed Dick the Shooter to cherry pick data to get us into Iraq.

Panetta was Clinton's Chief of Staff, so he has had security clearance. And by all accounts, he is a very competent manager.

As far as Di Fi, she is a DINO on many issues and was one of Bush's enablers in the area of warrantless wiretapping. I'm OK with her being pissed off. Not one of my favorite Democrats. She might raise a stink, but I don't think she will try to piss off Obama on this.

I'm OK with this pick. It is a clean break from the past.
